I want to wish a very Merry Christmas to all those who support this mission in both prayer and provision. You are the reason I am able to work with this mission church and proclaim the Gospel of Christ beyond the states.
Christmas is especially unique for a missionary. It can be a very lonely time of year, being far away from family and loved ones, but it is also a special blessing to be preaching and teaching the good news of the one who humbly lay in that feeding trough over two thousand years ago. This Christmas, due to a number of reasons, I will not be going home… but honestly, I feel so very blessed to be where God has called me to be and preaching His wonderful gospel.
Though, my hip injury has taken a little wind out of my sails, (see the “Preacher on a Stick” post), it has not deterred my preaching, or the positive response to that preaching. This past Sunday, a struggling member of the local church came forward at the invitation song and in tears, rededicated her life to the Lord. That is what this mission is all about!
To know that God is using me and those who have sent me to share this glorious message is a magnificent and beautiful gift, unique in and of itself. To those who have partnered with this mission in pennies and prayers, that gift is yours as well. Thank you for your commitment to Christ and mission work.
There is no doubt that this time of year is a special time. Think about it; the second person of the Godhead wrapped Himself in flesh, came into a dark, dying, and sin-filled world and set His feet on a path that would lead Him to a painful and cruel cross. He did so at the behest of God the Father and as a gift to the world. There has never been, nor shall there ever be, a greater gift;
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace, [emphasis mine].
The good news for the world is God gave a gift… HIS SON! Because of that amazing gift, we can receive another gift… salvation by grace;
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [emphasis mine].
We sing a song, “When we all get to heaven” and I hope we realize it now, if not, we will surely realize it then,… when we all get to heaven… it will be because of God’s Gift.
Merry Christmas from Marsh Harbour and the Abacos.
