Paul said this in Romans 16:5;
"Salute my wellbeloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia unto Christ."
Mission Marsh Harbour has now experienced its "firstfruits" - her name is Bianca.
Bianca started attending services about the same time I arrived here at Marsh Harbour. For weeks, she has been attending faithfully on Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings, and even Wednesday night Bible study.
As a preacher, we have a front row seat when it comes to watching the actions and reactions of those we are preaching to. We see the sleepy and tired... the bored and uninterested... the apathetic and indifferent... sometimes, when beholding the aforementioned class of folks we are provoked to raise our voice to wake them up - both physically and spiritually.
Such was not the case with Bianca. From the first time she attended and I preached, I could see I had her undivided attention. She was and still is hungry for the word! I could and can see it in her eyes. About 10 days ago, she decided she was ready to commit to Christ. After discussing with her the depth of dedication that Christ calls us to, she confessed her faith in Jesus and gave her life to Him. I was blessed with the opportunity to baptize her into Christ for the remission of her sins.
Lord willing... and I know He is... she will not be the last person that comes to Christ here in Marsh Harbour.
Actually, I still stand amazed at the receptivity of the people here in regard to Christ. The Saturday before last, four of the members of the church, myself included, passed out brochures at the local supermarket for about two hours. We invited people to visit our worship services and the next day, 14 people visited!
We are planning a revival in the Spring and there will be stateside campaigners coming to help in that effort to reach the community. I can't wait to see how God will work through that outreach!
In the meantime, we will continue to invite people to study the Bible with us and discover the beautiful message of Christ. We will plant the seed, we will water it, but God will give the increase.
Please pray for Bianca and the church here at Marsh Harbour.
God bless you.
